The Script

The Script is an Irish pop rock band from Dublin. Their first album The Script was recorded in August 2008. The members of the group are Danny O'Donoghue (lead vocals and keyboard), Mark Sheehan (guitar and vocals) and Glen Power (drums and vocals). Many of their songs are used in video games, and TV series such as 90210, Ghost Whisperer, Laguna Beach: The Hills, Waterloo Road, EastEnders and Vampire Diaries. In France, the song Science and Faith is used as an introduction to the episodes of season 5 of the show L'amour est dans le pré. O'Donoghue and Sheehan met in their late teens in Dublin's poor neighbourhoods attracted by their shared obsession with music, and in particular their love of black American music. "At that time, MTV didn't start until after midnight, it was an encrypted channel, and for my generation urban culture was just a wave that crossed all of us," explains Sheehan. "It wasn't about gangs or guns but fashion and fun, singing and dancing." Danny and Mark were members of a group formed in 1996 as My Town. Composed of four members, Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, Terry Daly and Paul Walker, the group has had moderate success in Ireland and the United Kingdom, but is overshadowed by the prosperity of the boys band. O'Donoghue and Sheehan are former producers who have worked with Rodney Jerkins, The Neptunes, Teddy Reilly and Dallas Austin. The group was dissolved in 2001>. During a stay in Ireland and through mutual friends, Mark Sheehan met Glen Power. After a few writing and composition sessions in Dublin, Mark invites Glen to spend a few days in Los Angeles, where he resides with Danny O'Donoghue. Glen Power joins the new trio. The group chose this name because each of their music tells a story with a beginning, a middle and an end about their personal but also universal problems. Calling out loud for songwriting and production in partnership, O'Donoghue and Sheehan's exceptional talent was quickly recognized, and to their amazement, they were invited to the United States to collaborate with some production heroes, including contemporary RnB legends such as Dallas Austin. Glen Power had been playing sessions since he was fifteen years old, spending a lot of money working on a solo album project. But this project was put on hold when his collaboration with Mark and Danny produced three songs in one week. " I had never had the chance, with other groups, to express myself so freely. " And so The Script started producing>. Released on August 8, 2008, their debut album The Script reached first place in the United Kingdom and Ireland the week of its release. The band confirms that they plan to write a song for Leona Lewis' second album>. With the success of the singles The Man Who Can't Be Moved, We Cry and Breakeven (one million sales in the United States), the album was a great success, and allowed the group to make itself known throughout the world, but also to win a World Music Award and a Meteor Music Award for the best live performance.
