Marcel dadi

Marcel Dadi is a French virtuoso guitarist of Tunisian origin, born in Sousse in Tunisia on August 20, 1951> and died accidentally on July 17, 1996 during the crash of the TWA 800 flight shortly after his departure from New York . In addition to his albums, Marcel Dadi has helped to promote guitar picking techniques in France by transcribing and publishing pieces and arrangements by Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Doc Watson, Antônio Carlos Jobim, etc. He has also often composed for his friends, for example Roger Chesterfield for Roger C. Field.

When his family moved to France, he was 3 years old and he began to learn the guitar at the age of 10 years and a half. He attended secondary school at Thiais high school (now Guillaume-Apollinaire) in the suburbs of Paris. He has the revelation of picking on hearing a song of Bob Dylan interpreted by Hugues Aufray: The Daughter of the North. Friends> make him discover great masters of this technique like Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed and Doc Watson. Seduced, he decided to abandon rock to learn this technique and after four years he began to perform on small scenes, including the Beatles and Rolling Stones.

Marcel Dadi leads the guitar and studies physiotherapist. After graduating in June 1973, he chose to devote himself exclusively to the guitar.

In 1971-1972, his talents as a guitarist began to be discovered thanks to the Tuesday evenings at the American Center of the Raspail boulevard in Paris, the Hootenanny, organized by Lionel Rocheman: he plays there notably with Stefan Grossman, Hervé Cristiani and Michel Haumont . His talent and ability to practice a style still little known to the public give him some fame, and he also begins to give guitar lessons, which quickly become famous. It was at this time that he made his first appearances on television in various variety shows.
