The Last shadow puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets is a British pop baroque supergroup from Wirral, England. It includes Alex Turner (singer of the Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (former singer of the Rascals). The Last Shadow Puppets is a parallel project, carried out at the same time as the activities of the other groups of the two musicians. Turner and Kane became friends when the latter's former group, The Little Flames, supported the former group, Arctic Monkeys, on their 2005 tour. The Little Flames will also support the Arctic Monkeys on their British tour in 2007, while Turner and Kane will write a song for their joint project. Their collaboration extends to the musical lineage of the Arctic Monkeys, with Kane playing guitar on 505, the latest song from the Arctic Monkeys' album Favourite Worst Nightmare, and Fluorescent Adolescent's B faces The Bakery and Plastic Tramp. Kane also participates in 505 and Plastic Tramp during several Arctic Monkeys concerts in 2007, including mini-festivals at the Lancashire County Cricket Club. The first album, The Age of the Understatement, mainly recorded in France in August 2007, was released in spring 2008. For the album, the band collaborated with producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons) and Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire, Final Fantasy) for string arrangements. The album reached first place in the UK Albums Chart. The first single, The Age of the Understatement, was released a week earlier, on April 14, with a new song, Two Hearts in Two Weeks, and covers of Billy Fury's Wondrous Place and David Bowie's In the Heat of the Morning (mentioned by Turner as one of his favourites>) on B faces>. The first performances were acoustic, with Alex Turner and Miles Kane playing two concerts in early April in New York on folk guitar. Their first concert with orchestra took place on the set of Jools Holland's Later show, which inspired the Taratata show. The band played their very first concert in Brooklyn, New York, at Sound Fix Records on March 4, 2008> and their second concert at the Cake Shop on the Lower East Side, the following night>. Regarding public concerts, the group performs at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the summer of 2008 and plays at the Olympia on August 26, 2008. They also play a private concert at the Glastonbury on June 28, 2008 with Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders on The Age of the Understatement and Jack White on lead guitar on Wondrous Place>.
