Watchtower

Watchtower is a progressive metal band also associated with American thrash metal, from Austin, Texas. The album Control and Resistance gets excellent reviews. So, he is named in the Top Ten Shred Albums of the 80's at Guitar World magazine. Personalities such as Chuck Schuldiner and Mike Portnoy have often been photographed wearing Watchtower T-Shirts. It was also the case of Lars Ulrich during the presentation of his album ... And Justice for All. In 1990 and 1991, Watchtower performed on various stages in Europe and received, particularly in Germany, an excellent reception.

In 2010, Watchtower released the title The Size of Matter in digital format>. it is followed in 2015 by three additional titles. They are compiled on the EP Concepts of Math: Book One published in 2016.

Watchtower was formed in 1982> in Austin, Texas. The quartet debuted in 1983 with a first version of their song Meltdown, which is included in the compilation Cheese Cottage from the Lips of Death - A Texas Hardcore Compilation. It follows a first studio album, Energetic Disassembly, released in 1985 on the band's own label, Zombo Records. Energetic Disassembly is considered a stone in the progressive metal building.

In late 1986, guitarist and founding member Billy White left the band to pursue other facets of music. He formed the Khymera group with Juggernaut drummer Bobby Jarzombek and former Karion bassist Pete Perez before joining singer Don Dokken for his album Up from the Ashes in 1990. With an uncertain future for Watchtower, Doug Keyser audition for Metallica after the death of bassist Cliff Burton. Jason McMaster is contacted by Pantera who is looking for a new singer.
