Agustin barrios mangore

Agustín Barrios Mangoré , born May 5, 1885 in San Juan Bautista de las Misiones (Paraguay), died August 7, 1944 in El Salvador, is a composer for guitar of the modern period. He composed about three hundred works for classical guitar, of which there are about a hundred published or recorded.

His birth name is Agustín Pío Barrios. From 1932, he called himself "Nitsuga Mangoré", named after a Guarani leader of the resistance to Spanish colonization in Paraguay, then "Agustín Barrios Mangoré". He used to dress in Guarani Indian during his concerts.

He studied guitar, composition, harmony and counterpoint in Asunción where he studied with Gustavo Sosa Escalada and Antonio Jimenez Manjón. He devotes himself entirely to the composition and gives many concerts.

First famous in Paraguay, he then performed in much of Latin America and the Caribbean: Uruguay, Venezuela, El Salvador, Mexico, Cuba, etc. He toured Europe in 1934-1936 (Belgium, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom).
