Dragon Ash ( "style =" color: # 00e; font: bold 80% sans-serif; text-decoration: none; padding: 0 .1em; ">> , Literally "Dragon Ash" ) is a Japanese rap rock band from Tokyo. He has hip-hop, rock, drum and bass, samba and reggae influences. The group is popular in Japan where they were among the first to introduce rap culture. The lyrics of their songs are mainly in Japanese but also in English and Spanish.
Dragon Ash was formed in 1996 by Kenji "Kj" Furuya and Makoto Sakurai. After two EP in 1997, The Day Dragged On and Public Garden, the band recorded several albums: Mustang! in 1997, Buzz Songs in 1998 and Viva la Revolution in 1999.
The album Lily of da Valley was released in 2001. The song Shizukana Hibi Kaidan Wo is used in the closing credits of the movie Battle Royale (2001), directed by Kinji Fukasaku. The group released a double compilation, The Best of Dragon Ash With Changes Vol.1 and The Best Of Ash Dragon With Changes Vol.2, on the occasion of their ten years of activity. The songs were chosen using a voting system offered to fans of the band.
In 2009 released the album Freedom, which contains the song Mixture. This term is used in Japan to represent the musical genre of fusion, of which they are one of the most representative groups. Mixture was released in 2010, followed by the Tour Rampage tour in 2011, where other emerging bands of bands appeared in the first part of their concerts, such as Radigalhen, Etchika or Knock Out Monkey >>>.
