Eluveitie released Helvetios , another folk metal album, in 2012. On May 14, 2014, the group announces the official release of their new album for August 1, 2014, and its title, Origins . On May 5, 2016, the group announces that following differences of opinion and conflicts of interest, Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi leave the group, but officiate until June 5, 2016 on the occasion of FortaRock in Nijmegen. In the same year, cellist Shir-Ran Yinon was replaced by Nicole Ansperger.

The group is known for using traditional musical instruments including flutes, bagpipes, violin, and hurdy-gurdy. The lyrics of some songs are written in Helvetian style>, reconstructed or transcribed from period inscriptions.

Formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann, Eluveitie was initially an exclusively studio project, the idea being to mix metal and Celtic music. The musicians had no choice but to record their pieces in the studio. The name of the group is inspired by a graffiti dating back to around 300 BC, discovered in Mantua. In the Etruscan alphabet, the inscription read eluveitie, interpreted in the Etruscan language as elvetios ( "the Swiss" ). The inscription is undoubtedly a reference to the Helvetii who lived in Mantua>. Following the release of their EP Vên in October 2003, Chrigel decided to make Eluveitie a full-fledged band and recruited nine musicians (some of whom had already participated in Vên). In 2004 they signed a contract with Fear Dark Records.
