Anterior

Anterior is a British metal band from Tredegar, Wales. Initially signed to the Metal Blade Records label, they released two albums that are This Age of Silence in 2007, and Echoes of the Fallen in 2011.

Originally formed in December 2003> as a quartet>, Anterior began in musical covers and quickly established himself in independent music. After having composed their first demo, they finish with a self-produced disc which they distribute in 2004 in small local stores. They then participate in an evening alongside DragonForce. Soon after, Anterior played alongside bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder>, Himsa (en) >, and 3 Inches of Blood>. The popularity of the growing group, the members decide to compose a first official record of quality. They begin recording at Sonic One Studios with producer Tim Hamill. They upload two songs (which catch the attention of the public) on their Myspace profile. They receive many proposals from different record labels before finally signing with Metal Blade Records in 2006 >>>. During songwriting, singer Luke Davies faces health problems that prevent him from playing the guitar. The guitar pieces were then recorded by guitarist Leon Kemp, while Davies' medical condition worsened more than the band thought. They still manage to record 10 songs, 9 are original songs, and the last one is a cover of the band Racer X>. A few days after the end of the recording sessions, the band goes on a British tour alongside 3 Inches of Blood. Before the release of their album, Anterior continues to play live. In May 2007, bassist James Britton left the group for personal reasons, but returned in September 2007.

The group then shares the scene with As I Lay Dying and Sanctity. Their debut album, entitled "This Age of Silence" , was released on June 12, 2007, and then embarked on a tour with The Black Dahlia Murder and The Ocean. Davies still unable to play, the group is trying to recruit a full-time guitarist. For many nights, Anterior plays alongside the Scottish metalcore band Mendeed . On the eve of Mendeed's separation, guitarist Steven Nixon joins Anterior>. In 2008, the band goes on an intense tour. On August 26, 2011, after a few delays, the album Echoes of The Fallen is marketed>.

On January 30, 2012, the group announced on its Facebook page its separation>. The last show took place on March 2, 2012 in London, England>. On April 4, 2012, guitarists Aled Davies and James Britton, and drummer James Cook, together with singer William Camm (former member of Tydus Falls), launch a new death metal band called Born of Ruin.
