now you do these good songs very usually
BUT BUT BUT
what I don't like when I hear your songs are the lame cadences.
EVEN WHEN YOU'RE A KEYBOARD PLAYER
the melodic part: really really good, well thought and nice sounding
the harmonic part: A, G, F, E, A, G, F, E
it's not the fact that it's simple... it's that it sounds really really poor
otherwise, solos sound like I'm listening to 2 songs the main theme and another song which is nothing to do with it
what I'd expect from a solo would be something more like "Piano Duet"
every solo in the song is a bad idea, I'm telling you (expect for Solo IV which does sounds good)
I liked break 2... but I would have liked it more if it'd have got a different aproach, maybe something like "Also Sprach Zarathustra", instead of something jolly which didn't do a solid sound at all
the ending is what I liked the most of the song

buena suerte con los demas ratings.

Well this song set a good mood at the beggining, was going along pretty well, and then the bluesy part just... killed everything that had to do with the feeling of the song.

Unlike mr stockle, I thought the first solo was pretty good, then the second not so bad, then the third just ruins the mood, and the melodic solo is not really a solo in my eyes, more of a melody part.

This song seems very unfocused... not sure what's it's trying to accomplish, or whether it's even trying to set any kind of mood or goal.

By themselves many of the parts are pretty good, but I'd say as a whole it's lacking a lot...

3 stars, for having some good ideas.

lol, you took down the "severed digit re-attachment" song before I had a chance to comment... will you be crossed if I tell you I liked that one better? Anyway, if you'll take a noob's 2 cents:

- the song starts nice with the piano line and some good solos (especially the second one, I loved the new-age pad; piano duet was cool too);
- bridge at 5/4 was a good ideia, fits in nicely;
- the blues bit... it took me some 4 listens to finally get the chord progression :\ it's a good idea, but somehow the piano and the solo stuff don't fit together (major and minor chords superposed, I think) and it makes the listener "lose track" of where the song is going;
- it gets better afterwards - the melody solo is perhaps the best part of the song :) ;
- the ending: I don't get why you make a keychange and then end the song altogether, it sounds kinda weird. Maybe continue for a little longer?

Overall, good stuff, but severed digit re-attachment really got stuck in my head (especially from part C onwards), and this one somehow didn't (except the 2nd solo and the melody one). Sorry :\

If I had to give a rating (wait a minute, I do!), it would be 3 or maybe 3.5 stars.

Oh god, why did you have to put in that third solo? This song without that would've been pretty decent. Unfortunately, like people before have said, the mood gets ruined by that solo.

This is my sort of style of music, and the breaks are one of my favorite parts. The rest of the song is pretty good, although to me it feels like you wrote a few ideas, and then combined them together - parts in there feel unconnected apart from the fact that they all use the same instruments.

The Tab is really well made, no red bars or bad timings and it's very solid in

terms of mixing as well. The ending is very nice, especially break 2. I don't

really like the main riff so much as it doesn't sound right but that's probably the

MIDI sounds there, since it's a normal "spanish" chord progression. Solo II is

my favourite, Solo I i just didn't like and the Blues Solo while good in some

parts, should have probably stayed more pentatonic than it was, especially in

bar 64 which sounded off. Overall it's a pretty good tab.

Excellent piano intro. Solo I was decent, but Solo II didn't seem to be a solo. The thing that stands out is the piano throughout this song. Bridge was a nice change, although I didn't like the Lead 1 Square keys; but a nice bluesy feel. Break 1 was out of character and didn't fit. Solo IV was nice. Break 2 sounded familiar in its progressions. The ending was great.

It has a nice superposition of sounds and the instruments leave space to each other perfectly. The solos were very good. I missed some panning of the instruments.
It exhibits some good ideas

I didn’t like bars 1 & 2 much. To me it sounds like if they clash a bit, but bars 3 and onwards sound better. The melody when the bass enters is one of my favourite parts in this song. It sounds nice and calming, yet there’s also a sense of doom in it (not the game, but something like a sense of disaster).

I don’t see why people are complaining about solo 1, I think it fits with the melody very nicely. Definitely the best out of the solos in this song. I’d have to go with the others on saying Solo II wasn’t much of a solo. The duet was nice and kept the song going in a steady progression.

Bluesy part, to me, just didn’t seem to fit the song and kind of sounded like something thrown in there. Break 1 brought the song back to it’s roots with new style and I liked that. Didn’t think much of solo IV since I think it fit the part well and there was no general complaint about it.

Break 2 was a good way to transition in to the end of the song, and helped make the song feel complete (and not sounding like it was ended suddenly).

I felt like the piano was abit undefined in lack of a better word. It didn't really compliment the chords playing or add a fitting melody, unfortunately it was more of a nuisance in my opinion. I also felt like the song shifted mood too much, from trying to be a calming melody to something jazzy that sounds like a theme song from the game transport tycoon. the chord progressions in the breaks in the end were good and better defined than parts earlier in the song. break 2 was the best part.

The only thing I can say is that I liked "Severed digit etc" waaaay better.
Solos really didn't fit with the song but the last one which was pretty good. I don't have much more to say so:

Rate: 3.0 Standar stuff, backing did the job, you had good ideas but the solos ruined the piece

I liked the intro. I really enjoyed all of the synth in this piece. The song had a weird balance of being together but not at the same time. Its a nice combonation. Its all very full and deep. I really have nothing bad to say but at the same time it isn't amazing to me but its good. 3.5

Todo Winterwolf – Steps on White Darkness

This song starts out ok with some simple piano stuff and continues in that vein for a while, adding instruments in the process. The two first solos, are at best ok. Some of the note choices seem awkward compared to the chords, and in solo 2 the phrasing is kind of bad with those 16th note runs and double stops. Piano duet that follows is a nice little break kind of thing; it feels nice and in place after the former parts. Now follows the bluesy solo, this is by far the worst part of the song. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the song, and even if you look at it out of context it’s no good. Break 1 starts out promising as a buildup kind of part, but it turns into something annoying with those fast triplet keys. And then this part is followed by a real calm part, which is kind of counterintuitive compared to what I had expected from the seemed intensity build. Anyway the calm melodic solo (or you could just call it lead line or something) was nice enough, and the part that follows it is ok. Actually this part break 2 is kind of what I had expected to come right after break 1, only maybe with more intensity to it. Could have worked as a climax – however in its current state, it’s not really a climax, just yet another part to the song. The ending is a nice way to end things, nice and calming I like that.

Anyway, to me the song kind of loses its direction by the piano duet part, and never really gets back on track. And pretty much all the solos in the song strike me as pretty bad, I recall you did better at solos in your last songs. Anyway, the song is still ok – average. Beginning piano part sounded good, but the solos and the loss of focus detracted from the impression.

Todo Winterwolf – Steps On White Darkness

I'll admit it – I actually liked the piano intro. Don't ask me how, but somehow you managed to make it feel both pretty and slightly “dangerous” at the same time. Was hoping you would expand both of those moods in the piece, but I got badly disappointed. The song becomes a happy synthfest, losing the ambivalent intro feel in a sea of keyboards playing happy, careless, empty melodies. The music is rather foreseeable, I get the feeling I heard that progression somewhere... and then somewhere else... oh yeah, there too... and a few more times... and now here.

The song isn't all bad though, you do get some slight redeeming value. The bluesy solo was fun and enjoyable, and the melodic solo was really nice. It had a slight “oldmanish” vibe to it... if you'd have harmonized it, you would unwillingly get me searching for some old gp files courtesy of a certain composer with a knack for really beautiful, harmonized leads. The outro had me scratching my head – great, return with the more “evil” side of things now after all the synth sugar? Make up your mind, wouldya? :P There were fine moments in the piece, but the predictability and emptiness of the majority of the content and the fake promise in the intro, oddly revisited in the outro didn't make for an enjoyable listen overall.

Todo Winterwolf - Steps On White Darkness
Quite original piece, some mayor flaws (well, Solo III mainly). but with a nice feel anyhow.
The ending started really promising but bar 96 ruined it for me (bar 93-95 sounded an awful lot like
sonata arctica, don't know why). Well, to cut the chase, I'll go for the list, and elaborate some.

- originality: Yes.
- composition technique: Good
- rhythm: I didn't care much for the bass-line, the drums was okay, but considering this is a song
that's keyboard-based, why not use Drum Kit 24/25?
- appropriate key signature: Yes.
- song structure: Well, I like it, some weirdness, some things that doesn't fit (solo III!), but mostly
nice
- quality of notation/tablature No tabulature what-so-ever, and the notation is as it should be. I do
belive the Synth bass could've had a tabulature part, but I guess that's 'cause I'm a bass player...;-)
- orchestration: Very good.
- use and respect of musical language: Yes
- use and quality of
Melody = Good melodies
Hooks = Yes, it do stick a while in once head, easy-listened, and when I re-listened to the song after
a couple of days, I feel right back into it, good job!
Solos = Good except for the third!
Riffs = No real riffs, but the synth equilent was good.
- mix of instruments and panning: Not sufficent, at least when it comes to panning, the volume is
excellent in the song though.
- general use of the GP software: Very good.
