Chaos Jazz strikes back. But without the chaos and not so much of jazz either.

Open The Window And Let Spring Enter You - beba nema zvecku

I thought this was a nice chillout tune. Bass track in parts in Jazz Time did sound a little off. Personally, I find it hard to write anything remotely jazz, so I commend you on that - it mostly sounds how... it should. I seriously enjoyed nearly everything else in the song - every single other part.

Very nice tune.

4 stars.

beba nema zvecku – Open The Window And Let Spring Enter You

I like... I like a lot. This is a simple, very pleasant and atmospheric tune. Pretty, ear catching melodies, nice interplay of the instruments, plus a cool jazzy section with a feisty bass solo. The transitions are smooth when needed, jagged when needed, the piece flows along in its specific, peculiar way. The song can put a smile to my face when I feel a little sad... it manages to grasp the spring feel and encode it in a string of notes. Your best one yet. And will happily offer moral support and watch more ditties like this get born before my eyes...

I wasn't sure what genre this is or what you intended. If you intended a jazz song, you succeeded in some areas but not others. You made some effort with the jazz guitar melodies, which were nice. I felt the song lacked some atmosphere and no hook or anything memorable. The Jazz Time section was a quite good but out of context with the rest of the song. A backbeat drum track would have helped this along nicely but it didn't have one so it made the song sound disjointed to me. Nothing memorable but a decent effort.

Cool song, relatively simple yet effective, the title is very fitting as it sure feels like the first day of spring... I'd describe it as "contained joy" - happy in a "peaceful" sort of way. And it does that without being cheesy, which is very good for me ;) Plus, I love Jazz Time, it's so... polyrhythmic... and great fretless solo :P I actually which the song had more of that, but then it wouldn't fit the theme I suppose, so it's ok.

A couple of little things: I think the melody in the very first few bars would sound better with let-ring, for some extra atmosphere; and, the "guitar solo" in A1 is where the song almost becomes cheesy... but there really wasn't another way to do it I guess.

Other than that, there's not really much to say. Good job.

3.5 (mostly due to the general high quality of the other songs than anything else)

Well this song has very good moments, a nice happy little ditty; That being said, the song does have its flaws.

Part by part analysis -

Part A -

It seems for this type of song some of the melodies clash with each other in a negative way, such as the G# and A# on bar 11 and all repeats of that measure - Seems unfitting for the tone of the song - And again, the F and E at bar 20, etc - has that same problem.

Highlight of part A - Nice little simple lead at bar 32, very effective - This part reflects the simple, yet pleasant characteristics of the song very well.

Part B -

Transition of theme is well established, very smooth and fitting for the style - This part seems more like a little transition towards the break, but I have no qualms against any of it, well executed.

Bar 57 is an interesting little cadence, so to say, it's a nice jazzy switch of feeling, a bit unexpected, but not too odd to the ears.

Break -

Simple, nice to listen to, but doesn't really add or detract any score from the song.

Jazz Time -

My favorite part of the song, very nice fretless bass line - I liked the feel it had, and I thought it was pretty cool all around - The most interesting part for sure, and a nice breath of fresh air, in contrast to the rest of the song.

Transition back into B and A is suitable, if not outstanding.

Nice, simple way of ending the song.

Structure of the song was good, overall feel was good in my opinion, a song that has a point and made it, but overall lasting impression was not outstanding - Although it's pleasant to listen to, it's not a song that particularly stands out to me.

3.5 stars.

As have been mentioned there’s odd harmonization on the guitar tracks. Overall there’s not much to say about the song. The break feels a bit odd in this song, and overly simple. The jazz part is probably my favorite thing in the song, but it seems kind of misplaced compared to the rest of the song. The rest of the song was ok, but not much more. Also I didn’t get the impression spring from this song at all, but that’s a minor thing. Overall it was a pleasant listen

A well done song, but there isn’t much to talk about. I liked how the guitars complemented each other. The bass lines aren’t great, but do their job. It seems I’m the only one here that didn’t quite get the fretless in the jazz time, but I guess that’s because it’s out of context, not because it’s bad. What I didn’t like very much is the drum, I think you need to polish it up a little bit.
