You´ve got a pretty unique style my friend.
I must say that I like your song a lot. It is very coherent. Piano and guitars flow very well together. The only thing I don´t like is the transition into the solo. Also I was a bit disapointed by your 2nd outro. I think the paino stuff could have been a bit longer.
Love the vocals.
Good work.

The Old Man... your reputation preceeds you, as a maker of cool rock songs with awesome piano lines.. xD. Well, this one is no exception, although there were a few quirks to it.

Intro enters with a bang, really strong melody and rhythm. Great piano lines and main guitar melody, but they're kinda hard to hear over the rhythm section, a little adjustment in volumes is in order, me thinks. Then in comes Verse 1, and all just.. dies off? Well, once again, this probably works better in real life, but in GP it gets me thinking a little better transistion is in order. Verse itself is cool, apart from the vocals and piano clashing in bar 21.

Nice Pre-Chorus, then main melody again, then transition to verse 2 sounds a lot better with a bit more stuff on it. The chorus is good in punch and rhythm, but I'm not too crazy about the vocal melody here, it's a bit repetitive tbh. Nothing to say on Break, and the guitar solo is really great, best moment of the whole song, EXCEPT for that weird pick scrape in the beginning, you need to make those dead notes, otherwise it sounds quite bad.

After that guitar solo I was expecting a brilliant piano solo, but it ended up being a bit bland, and really short... plus the transition to Pre-Chorus 2 was quite odd. Pre-Chorus 2 was ok, nothing special, then Chorus again, Break 2 was nice, probably the best transition you did in this song. No complaints on Outro 1, coolest piano line of the song :P - then once again you make it all die abruptly for Outro 2, if you hadn't done this before it would be ok, but like this... I wish you had made the other instruments fade out better. The final piano bars are nice and sweet though.

Overall.. a few issues with transitions, ironically the song didn't "flow" as much as it would be desired. Nevertheless, an enjoyable powerful song with great moments (certainly the guitar solo :D)

Flow - Theoldman

A Theoldman song... like JR, I already know what to expect from you. :P

Well, unusually enough, I'm not a huge fan of the choruses or the main melody for once. I think it has something to do with the chord progressions used (I'm sensitive when it comes to those). Bm to Em feels reeeeeeally tired to me, honestly. The problem with overdoing the number of minor chords used in succession or close together is that they lose their impact, and often lose their "sad" feel. Which is definitely shown in this song, although it looks like you were banking on it, with the upbeat nature of the whole thing. But, like I said, it just feels uninspired to me, and dare I say, bland for a Theoldman song.

One thing - I swear I see the exact same drumming pattern at least once in every single song of yours. In this song, it's showcased at the start of the chorus and during the main melody. Am I right? Not criticising, just a note of interest. :P

But anyway... yeah, I love your verses, but the choruses fail to leave any impact. Mixing isn't the best either - piano is drowned out at the start, and for the most part in outro (part 1). The guitar/piano solo is the highlight, although the piano section is a little underwhelming. Outro part 2 is excellent.

So, all in all, an adequate song, but subpar by your standards.

3.5 stars.

...only when I hit play did I realize how much I missed ya in those comps. love the way you retained yer "happy happy vibe" whilst having the intro sound oriental and varying up the orchestration from section to section. at times the song feels it's going a little too fast for its own good, like its stumbling a little to keep up, but its only a few fleeting moments (mostly the gallopping chorus). the solo is top notch, and works the way you slowed it down. really nice and solid song.

Love chords, melody. Though i would put less intuments and make it jazzy or pop style, or sth like JR did in this comp.
3.5 star (one of my best ratings).
