Tupac Amaru Shakur (pronounced: ), by his real name Lesane Parish Crooks , born June 16, 1971 in New York>, known as the stage name of < b> 2Pac and Makaveli (in long form Makaveli The Don Killuminati )>, and murdered September 13, 1996 in Las Vegas, is a rapper, poet and American actor>. He is often considered one of the greatest rappers of all time >>>.

Coming from a family that has been active in the ranks of the Black Panthers, Tupac Shakur has more than 75 million albums sold abroad>. The Rolling Stone magazine awards him the 86> place of his ranking of the greatest musical artists of all time>.

Alongside his musical career, he was a promising actor and a socially engaged citizen. Most of 2Pac's songs speak of a childhood of violence and misery in the ghettos, racism, social problems and conflicts with other rappers. He has campaigned throughout his career for racial egalitarianism. Shakur was first a roadie and a dancer for the alternative hip-hop group Digital Underground >>>>>. He was then part of Outlawz, Digital Underground and Thug Life. His success largely contributed to the global commercial explosion of rap in the 1990s. His charisma, flow, worked lyrics and untimely death made him one of the major icons of this genre: he is one of the most with the most albums after his death>, and is ranked 8> dead celebrity bringing the most money in 2007, ahead of James Brown and Bob Marley>.

Tupac released his first album, 2Pacalypse Now, in 1991 and made him a major West Coast rapper during the 1990s >>>. Over the course of his career, he has directed several hit albums such as Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. in 1993 and Me Against the World in 1995>. That same year, Shakur, who had legal problems, robbery and shootings, came into rivalry with East Coast rappers including his former friend The Notorious B.I.G. His album All Eyez on Me, the first double album in the history of hip-hop for a solo artist, has become one of the best-selling albums in the United States.

Tupac has been the target of lawsuits and has had other legal problems. On November 30, 1994, he was shot five times and was robbed in the lobby of a recording studio in New York. Shakur suspects that other figures in the rap industry had prior knowledge of the incident and did not warn him. This controversy helped trigger the East Coast / West Coast rivalry. He is then convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to a term of imprisonment. After serving eleven months of his sentence, he is released on bail paid by Marion "Suge" Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records. In exchange for Suge's help, Shakur agrees to record two albums for Death Row. On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot again, but this time, fatal, during a shooting in Las Vegas. After being taken to a hospital in the city, he died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest on September 13, 1996. His life, his success, his problems with justice and his assassination at the height of his glory contribute to his status as a poet of the street, mysterious and melancholy and make Tupac a cultural icon.
