U2

U2 [ J u ː t u ː ] is an Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976.

It is composed of Bono singing and occasionally guitar; The Edge on guitar, piano and vocals; Adam Clayton on bass; and Larry Mullen Jr. on the drums.

Since the 1980s, U2 has established itself as a major group on the world stage. He is best known for War albums, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop and All That You Can not Leave Behind. Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, Pride, With or Without You, I'm Looking For, Desire, One, Mysterious Ways , Beautiful Day, Elevation or Vertigo are some examples of the group's global success.

U2 has sold 200 million albums (in June 2017) and has also won 22 Grammy Awards. U2 is ranked 22> on the list of the 100 greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine>. Since the mid-1980s, the group has been defending the cause of human rights, for example by promoting Amnesty International at its concerts. The group members become "conscience ambassadors" of the organization in December 2005>. Bono was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 and 2005. He is also named "Personality of the Year 2005" by Time Magazine for his fight in favor of Africa>, and is awarded the title of "Man of peace" by the mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, in 2008>.
