Folder created, but we need at least one more judge, otherwise, no competition, or a twi nmonth thing that's drag on and on.

well, my tabs up for validation, i sucks that i worte it on gp5 and  had to change it around to gp4, cus i was using stuff i guess that was exclusive to gp5, so  my peice kind of lacks some of the stuff it originally had in it, i had to change the  clean solo guitar in my piece to overdrive cus the solo guitar got drowned out in th gp4 mix, but ya i guess it worked out....

You're allowed to have a .gp5-version of the song aswell, as long as you also provide a gp4 one.

Re: Open Competition April 2009 - Discussion

submitted... I won't bother sending the gp5, they sound the same. Had lots of fun writing this one, should be good for a few laughs  smiley-biggrin

Something weird happened though... I disabled tab view for the "keyboard" track in the gp5 file, but the gp4 export still shows it no matter what I do... any ideas?

And there is mine uploaded.  smiley-smile
I'm surprised at how early most people are uploading their songs, btw - already five on the site now...

Re: Open Competition April 2009 - Discussion

it's an open comp, anything goes, so to say... not like the specific genre comp where you have to write a track fitting the guidelines. here you can pop in literally anything at all... and it's simpler for folks to write when they're not restricted. plus, they may have an "old" track laying around, and don't need to start from scratch for comp purposes

This is also what I think, but in the end, there's still a higher percentage who doesn't submit in an open comp than a specified genre.

No validations will be done this weekend btw, I will be busy, same with my comments for the last competition, but they'll be in before the 7th.

Re: Open Competition April 2009 - Discussion

because an "open" comp encourages completely random people to sign up, and you know the type... some will just come here once and that's all you'll see of them, they won't even return to send the song. is the percentage among the "stable guard" that high too?

this comp is real consistent... not a single obvious "dud" within sight, all the songs are really solid and I had a quality time listening to them :]

Re: Open Competition April 2009 - Discussion

So if my math is correct we have 16 contestants now? That's a good lot of people  smiley-smile  Several great songs too (well I liked all of them so far...). Another tough one for the judges I think.

Oh, and blackiel, how did you do that MP3 convert? Sounds nice...

thanks. I played the song in GP5, whilst recording "What You Hear" through my soundcard into Creative Wavestudio, then saved as a mp3

Re: Open Competition April 2009 - Discussion

So you were using RSE in GP5, right? Actually I was looking for something that allowed me to change the instrument sounds in MIDI files, sort of like hamienet does, but with more "freedom".

Anyway, thanks for the reply, and happy Easter while we're at it!
