Can I judge? I have some tunes in the oven, but can't find the time or the "inspiration" to turn them into real competition material... so I'd like to judge (if you can take my demented noobish opinions... )

But keep an eye on my "artist" folder anyway, something might come up soon...

but just be sure you also have the time to judge, as you shouldn't underestimate the time commitment just to do that.

I'm pretty sure about that. I'm kinda slow in songwriting (being a noob and all...) so it's less time-consuming for me to judge than to actually compose

maybe one day I'll manage to write a piece you like, again...

for now, a random competition related question I've had for a while... I've got a work in progress song in my head, and am wondering if it's competition legal... the catch - it reuses one melody from an old song I wrote some time back, namely the chorus part (for example bars 97-112) of guitar I... the link to the old tab: http://www.gprotab.net/comment_tab.php?tab_id=101636 that's the only thing the new song takes from here. could it pass?

Well, I have to think about it, don't be too optimistic, since this is dangerously close of being a violation with rule 9

"Only original compositions are permitted. You cannot submit a song used before on GProTab or other sites."

But then again, it's not the whole song, just a small part of it. As I said, I'll give it some carefull consideration, and post the answer when I've made up my mind.

I'm starting to understand what blackiel said about judging taking a lot of time. Just finished writing comments for Quibokk and Rumpy, and it took me almost 2 hours to do it... but don't worry, I'll pull through Generis, you're next

Bumblebee, you're in.

@|_JR_| We do mind, a ban for a year awaits you! Or not really, but the judges should keep in mind that they have to be neutral, and not discuss too much in this topic, or any other one for that matter.

And another thing JR, try your best to give a wide perspective when it comes to ratings. This is nothing aimed at you, but some judges seems to think they could give one 5-star, and three 4,5, and the rest gets 3,5-4. That's okay for a contestant judge to do, but a "real" judge should try to use the whole scale, well, at least 1,5-5, unless there's a really "bad" song in the mix.

But this is guidelines, not rules, you just do your best and everything will be allright.
